conference center located on the bluffs of ecologically sensitive
Apalachicola River ravines

Description: An education
and conference center. Strategy was to make a minimal imposition
on this fragile landscape. Presented were 6 different schemes initially.
2 were explored in detail and the one with the roof form that echoed
the ravines was ultimately chosen.
Project won AIA Design Award for Excellence in Architecture.

This building
incorporates sustainable materials such as recycled lumber (HDPE
wood), engineered lumber, salvaged heart pine floors and concrete
board siding. Passive cooling and ventilation is used throughout
to mitigate energy costs.
