Project: 60,000 sf
office building for Lakeshore Drive, Tallahassee
Cost: $18 million
Status: Conceptual
design
Delivery: Bid
Description: The developer
wants a 'signature' building and asked me to develop some non-traditional
solutions to the program which consisted of leased space and office
condos.
The organic forms on the left are constructed using punched metal
screen or wire lattice over a light-metal frame matrix. In additional
to the visual effect, the screen also acts to filter the intense
solar gain at this latitude. Each of these schemes was conceived
of, modeled and rendered in 30 minutes to an hour.
The scheme
below is a more traditional interpretation and uses exterior articulating
louvers to throttle the amount of sunlight. It's tripartite structure
is comprehensible and unlike many of the schemes to the left, announces
an overall hierarchy. This scheme was designed, modeled and rendered
in 4 hours. Click to enlarge.
