Client:
Florida Retail Federation
Project: 6 story building
on a 60' x 105' partial across from Tallahassee City Hall (1 of
4 schemes)
Cost: $7 million (estimated)
Status: Design Development
Delivery: Bid
Description: Shown
here is my 6 story scheme for this project developed alongside the
more traditional 2 and 12 story schemes. The curve of the facade
is a nod to the 70's modern Florida Capitol building. Inspired by
Brasilia, the exterior treatment are vertical screens operable from
the inside. Each group of panels is 5' wide x 11' high. Proposed
were anodized gold aluminum or moss green as an alternative.
As the
sun tracks across the sky, building's users can throttle the amount
of direct solar gain. This has a quilt-like effect on the buildings
surface - constantly changing throughout the day and season as the
exposure shifts.
Inside,
there are 2 floors of retail, a second story cafe over the sidewalk
and 4 floors of office above. Plans can be viewed by clicking on
the links under the images.
