Description: A community
center that can accommodate up to 100 people for weddings, parties,
events and such. Building sits along the edge of lake which dictated
raising it on a platform for views and floods. Community architectural
guidelines dictated a vernacular style.
16' high French doors open out essentially
doubling the square footage of the congregation space. Restrooms,
kitchens and storage are provided on the ends.
A simple volume. Massing is solid-void-solid
with clapboard blocks anchoring the ends. Detailing and form are
based loosely on a historical church nearby.
All buildings utilize passive cooling techniques
and are built with engineered lumber, concrete board and other sustainable
materials.
This is one of 5 buildings I did for this
community. All were similar in style and included a boat house,
a horse barn, bus shelters and gazebos. |
