Description: Site is in North Carolina on the same ridge as Mt. Mitchell, the highest peak on east coast. Site was long and narrow and was bordered on one side by a 50' high shear granite wall and on the other side by a cascading mountain stream. Access to the interior of the site was by foot only. In deference to the land forms, I floated a cable suspended 'bridge' out over the water much as Frank did with the Kaufman house at Falling Water. In this case though, I wanted the building to float over the landscape and not be grounded. No component larger than what 3 men could carry was used. The pylons were built up steel sections with no piece weighing more than 150 pounds. Elsewhere engineered and recycled lumber were used throughout.
